We've been building BuxIQ for over a year. In that time, we used every personal finance app we could find - international apps designed for US bank integrations, basic expense trackers that required manual logging, spreadsheet templates, and everything in between. None of them were built for how Indians actually spend money: with UPI, with bank SMS notifications, with local merchants who have no digital presence, in rupees, with family financial obligations that don't fit Western categories.

So we built one from scratch. Not a copy of Mint or YNAB with Indian branding layered on top - a genuinely India-first personal finance system designed around the way money actually moves in this country. Today, BuxIQ is officially in beta, and 10,000+ people have already joined the waitlist. Here's everything you need to know.

What BuxIQ Does (In Plain Language)

Automatic transaction tracking via SMS. Every time money moves in or out of your account, your bank sends you an SMS. BuxIQ reads those SMS alerts in real-time - the moment the notification arrives, the transaction is captured, categorised, and added to your dashboard. No connecting to your bank account, no sharing login credentials, no manual entry. You spend ₹450 on Swiggy, your phone gets the SMS, BuxIQ has it logged before you've finished your meal.

AI categorisation built for India. Most expense trackers struggle with Indian merchant names. They see "HDFC0000291834" and don't know what it is. BuxIQ's AI recognises over 10,000 Indian merchants - Swiggy becomes "Food Delivery," Rapido becomes "Transport," D-Mart becomes "Groceries," Jio becomes "Utilities," Unacademy becomes "Education." For merchants it doesn't immediately recognise, it analyses the SMS context: amount, time of day, frequency pattern, and similar merchants in your history. It learns from every correction you make - tell it once that "SASTE BAZAAR" is your local kiryana store, and it never asks again.

Financial Health Score: a number that actually matters. Your CIBIL score tells banks about your loan repayment history. Your BuxIQ Financial Health Score tells you whether your daily money habits are working. It's a 0–100 weekly score calculated from your savings rate, budget adherence, spending patterns, debt ratio, and goal progress. A high score doesn't mean you earn a lot - it means your habits are strong. That's the number we think should be on your financial dashboard.

Why We Built This in Salem, Tamil Nadu

Most consumer finance apps are built in San Francisco by teams who pay rent in dollars, split bills via Venmo, and don't know what UPI is. When those teams build for India, they bolt on rupee support and call it localisation. It isn't. They don't understand that "Saravana Stores" is a beloved grocery chain across Tamil Nadu, not a suspicious unknown merchant. They don't know the difference between a G-Pay QR payment at an auto stand and a Paytm payment to a grocery store. They don't account for the fact that many Indian households have blended incomes where family transfers are as significant as salary credits.

BuxIQ is built by people who live in India, earn in rupees, use UPI every day, and send money to family every month. Our team is based in Salem, Tamil Nadu. When we test the app, we're testing it on real Indian bank SMS formats, real merchant names, real UPI transaction patterns. The product decisions we make are grounded in lived experience, not market research done from abroad. That difference is in every part of the product.

Free Plan vs Pro Plan

We built BuxIQ to be genuinely useful for free - not a crippled demo that forces an upgrade. The free plan includes automatic transaction tracking, basic expense categories, one budget, your Financial Health Score, and 5 AI insights per month. That's enough to meaningfully improve your financial awareness for most people.

The Pro plan at ₹299 per month adds everything a serious user needs: unlimited AI Financial Assistant conversations, Family Mode for up to 6 household members, unlimited savings goals, the Subscription Tracker, full spending analytics with historical comparison, and priority support. If you have a family, run a household budget, or want to go deep on your financial data, Pro is built for you.

Start free - no credit card required. Upgrade only when you're ready. Your data stays yours regardless of which plan you're on.
